My name is Samantha and I am the founder of Wellness by Samantha.
I am passionate about understanding the mind-body connection and taking a holistic approach to mental health and wellness. I am committed to helping people heal from the inside out and I believe in integrative medicine through exploring our minds, bodies, and diets to achieve full body healing.
I have my Master’s in Clinical psychology and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (#94527) specializing in anxiety and depression. My clinical background has provided me with the ability to explore and understand mental health conditions. However, at times I struggled with the western approach to mental health and health in general. It seemed to overlook basic and intuitive aspects of health and lacked integration. I did not understand how the graduate programs in my field or even in the medical field did not include any education on nutrition or exercise. It is not rocket science to know that what we put into our bodies and what we do with our bodies, directly impacts how we feel emotionally, mentally, and physically.
I started doing my own research to better understand the importance of gut health in relation to mental health. I began to really explore the systemic problems in the food industry and pharma companies and how they are designed at times to keep us sick because unfortunately sick people are profitable and healthy people are not.
With this information I began to grow my knowledge in alternative ways of healing.
I received my yoga teacher certification from YogaWorks in 2014 and attended The Natural Gourmet Institute’s “Food Therapy” program in 2016 to better learn how to enhance our health through our food, understand the importance of gut health, feed our minds, and become a more responsible consumer.
I truly believe in the mind-body connection and approaching mental health holistically. I am extremely passionate about understanding people and their stories and teaching people various ways to heal their bodies through psychotherapy, nutrition, mindfulness, yoga, and meditation.
While I am passionate about health and wellness, I also love tasting new foods, being spontaneous, trying new things and travelling to new places. I believe in everything in moderation, including moderation.
Wellness by Samantha is intended to teach you some simple things you can incorporate into your life that will make you feel better, less stressed, more grounded, and more balanced. I am constantly searching for alternatives to prescription drugs and I love to use my kitchen as a pharmacy. I will bring awareness to things that may seem complicated but are actually quite simpler than you think. Even if you make one small change, that is enough. This site is for the curious and the well informed. Don’t be intimated but rather just be excited to learn, and willing to try new things!
